Five for Friday: Great Gifts for Nasty Women

Gifts

This year, I’ve been looking for holiday gifts that will empower all the strong women I know. I want them to charge into the new year with courage and dignity. I want them to feel the love from those of us who will always have their backs. We’re at one of those points in history where, as women, our support for each other isn’t just one piece of the big puzzle–it’s everything. If we don’t support each other, friends– well, we’re lost. No one else is going to do it.

With that in mind, today’s Five for Friday is dedicated to highlighting a few of the wonderful items I’ve uncovered in the last few weeks. I hope you’ll find them appropriate for all the nasty women on your list.

This print–an inspiring quote from Hillary Clinton, printed over her silhouette–is available as a poster, mug, or phone case. (It’s available for both iPhone and Android models.)

These enamel pins from Emily McDowell Studio celebrate everyday acts of bravery, from “Kicked Cancer’s Ass” to “Drank Enough Water.” I can think of a bunch of women who would enjoy sporting one (or more) of these. And they’re inexpensive enough that you can hand them out to all your deserving friends!

If there’s a t-shirt person on your list, I highly recommend this one. For more delicate sensibilities, try this one. (The entire collection at Fabulously Feminist is pretty awesome, in a quietly ironic way. Be sure to check it out.) For fans of the Notorious RBG, I’m sure this shirt would be a delightful surprise.

This solid gold pencil set comes complete with encouraging feminist messages like “Hustle for Justice.” It’s perfect for drafting letters to your elected representatives or making a shopping list. (At the top of my list: lots of coffee. To keep me hustling for justice.)

And finally, this bracelet from Wyoming Creative will remind the strong women on your shopping list that we’re in this together. The purpose of empowering ourselves, after all, is to use that power to help others. Who can then help others themselves. And so on, and so on . . .

If you’ve discovered an item (or if you’re the creator of an item) that would make a good addition to this list, be sure to share a link in the comments!
